The Balentine Family

It’s hard to find the words to adequately convey how deeply I value this sweet family. Brad and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Adam and Amy in our community group at church and I can honestly say that they are two of the most solid people that I know. It’s one thing to be well read and knowledgeable in your faith, but the way that these two live it out is by far one of the most refreshing blessings to anyone that they encounter. Amy and Adam received the joyous news back in October that they were expecting their second child. At their 20 week ultrasound they found out that their precious baby had a rare chromosomal disorder called Trisomy 13; a disorder that has a 100% fatality rate for children. From day one of this diagnosis they have chosen to take this seemingly hopeless situation and rest in their savior, knowing full well that there is more pain to come. When picking a name for their son, they chose the name Simon which means “to be heard.” There is no doubt in my mind that Simon’s story is continuing to be heard and will be long after he is in heaven. I feel so honored to have been able to make some images of this incredible family. Adam and Amy are both gifted writers and updates can be found on their blog.
